Large Japanese bowl with pine trees and flowers painted in gold over powder blue. The interior has a patterned border with daisies and peonies grace the base. The bowl is signed in red on the base.
The strong blue colour makes this bowl stand out from the crowd. Have it in a display cabinet or stand it on a tall torchere with a white orchid in it (the latter is how we have it at the moment and it looks great).
Aoki Kyodai-Shokai was founded in the 1890s by Aoki Jinichiro (1863-1955).
Condition Note: Condition is commensurate with age with rubbing of the gilt around the rim. There are a couple of small chips on the inside of the foot which are invisible when the bowl is upright. There is also one tiny loss to the enamel of a leaf in the interior of the bowl. Otherwise, the bowl has a good ring.
