A high quality Hexagonal Silver tea caddy made in 1906 by A & J Zimmerman Ltd of Birmingham. Clear hallmarks to side, base and lid.
A relatively small tea caddy with a simple but very elegant shape. This tea caddy is in excellent condition.
Tea was introduced to Britain from China sometime in the middle of the 17th century and was believed to be therapeutic as well as delicious. The word caddy derives from the Malay "kati" a measure of weight about 3/5 of a kilo.
