Liberty & Co Victorian walnut Arts & Crafts ‘Medina‘ bureau designed in the Moorish style by Leonard Wyburd. The fall front is supported on the the left and right drawers and opens to reveal a fitted interior with dark navy leather skiver. The bureau has five drawers above three alcoves in the Moorish (mihrab) style and stands on short turned legs. The bureau may have originally had a gallery in the Moorish style to the top. Circa 1890
Good condition with new dark navy leather skiver.
Leonard Wyburd was the director of Liberty‘s Furnishing and Decoration Studio founded in 1883. Wyburd‘s personal preference was for the Moorish style and he was later influenced by E.W Godwin.
