A large heavy old English two tone salt glaze stoneware jug with and silver rim by Brockwell & Son (Henry Titterton Brockwell). Although unmarked, it has the same sprigged relief designs as Doulton Lambeth. The iconic English designs are: a drinking man at table, a man drinking with his family with family and a boar at his feet, a man eating at table with a dog looking up, a tree with a fence, a windmill and a hunting scene around the bottom with a running deer chased by 7 dogs and a huntsman on horseback. These are applied in relief and stone glazed to achieve a rich caramelised brown. The silver rim is hallmarked London, HTB with a capital F in a shield for 1881.
The jug is in excellent condition with two tiny indentations to the silver.
