Wooden box made from part of WW1 era propeller blade. Inside is a "Rumpler" tag who were a German aircraft and automobile manufacturer founded in Berlin by Austrian engineer Edmund Rumpler in 1909.
After the end of WW1, the Treaty of Versailles prohibited Germany from manufacturing aircraft so Rumpler were forced to concentrate on car production instead. In 1918 3,300 people worked for Rumpler but by 1926 the company was in receivership and eventually bought by Bayerische Flugzeugwerke - which went onto become BMW.
